Beth Corning has once again returned to the New Hazlette Theatre in Pittsburgh’s Northside to produce and perform in a surrealist dance that bends light and color. Under the production name Corningworks, Beth assembles a rag tag group of veteran dancers that challenge the stereotypes we hold for the stage.
I will be the first to admit, I am unfamiliar when it comes to the fluid stage of dance. There are those much more qualified to write about it than I. Yet, when you see a Samuel Beckett piece such as Come and Go, your eyes are taken away from the world of the mundane and transported to a planet somewhere between child like wonder and adolescent awkwardness.
The lighting, costumes, and placement of feet mix together for a wonderful night out of the ordinary. Here are the photos I took during the dress rehearsal.
