We’re obsessed with sound. Admit it. A song can recap an entire summer of emotion in under three minutes. When we revisit that song, we want it to sound like our memory. The same with the next song, we want it to come through with all the colors of life.

That said, I’ve tested over fifty Bluetooth Speakers for Jekko so far. I took these speakers to parties, events, and even yoga classes to see if they’d hold up to what life throws our way. After drying them out and knocking off all the sand, I can definitively this is a list of the Best Portable Bluetooth Speakers for Your Home.

This list is dedicated to speakers you can move around your house or take with you. Our guides on smart speakers and multi-room systems are coming. Please consider supporting us by using our buy links. We earn a tiny commission. <3

JBL Pulse 3

JBL Pulse 3
JBL Pulse 3 is a unique speaker with built in lights that react to your music. Foo Conner | Jekko.

The JBL Pulse 3 is a campfire for a good night of music and stories. The speaker is a 360° light that brightens up any environment. It’s waterproof and houses a 12 hour battery life. It may look fragile, but our JBL Pulse 3 stood up to everything we threw at it and without a scratch. You’ll want to get more than one to fill a room for the sound is more directional than others on this list. Not to worry, JBL Connect+ claims to connect up to 100 seamlessly. I recommend it for dorms, small apartments, and those who can’t get enough RGB.

Fugoo Style XL

The Fugoo Style XL lives up to it’s name. It’s fashionable and mixes into any situation. Foo Conner | Jekko.

The Fugoo Style XL filled every room we put it in. It shines in large open spaces where it it has room to breath. The lows, mids, and highs, all come through naturally without much artificial inflation or need to EQ. You’ll likely forget about it. it’s impressive 35 hour battery life lasts for days and provides a USB port for charging your phone. Should you be on a real adventure, you can remove the speaker’s core and upgrade it to the Fugoo Tough XL casing. We recommend this for yoga studios, startup accelerators, and beach outings.

V-Moda Remix

V-Moda Remix
The V-Moda Remix is animal friendly with its vegan leather. Foo Conner | Jekko.

The V-Moda Remix is stunning sound in a small design. V-Moda is one of the best companies we’ve come across for sound accuracy. To us this means are you hearing what the artist had in mind when they recorded the tracks. The insightful design and premium materials used in construction put the Remix in a class of its own. There is so much to love beyond the sound. The case can be modified, the leather is vegan, and it has USB-C. For their entry into Bluetooth Speaks it can’t be beat. We recommend it for musicians, indoor use, and those with Spotify Premium accounts.

UE Boom 2

Ultimate Ears 2 Bluetooth Speaker
The UE Boom 2 is the quintessential Bluetooth Speaker to measure others by. Foo Conner | Jekko.

The UE Boom 2 is the speaker in which we compare others to. The shockproof, waterproof, cylindrical design accompanied with 15 hours of battery life and 100ft range is everything a Bluetooth speaker should be. Because of it’s reliability, this is the perfect speaker to give as a gift to friends and family. While it doesn’t Alexa Integration and deeper bass of the next generation (which we will test soon), you won’t notice. We recommend this speaker for anyone starting out their journey in mobile sound.

Marshall Stockwell

The Marshall Stockwell is suited for those who love nostalgia. The Marshall amp style can be picked out from across the room. So can it’s matching attractive sound. It is the only one on the list that allows for EQ on the speaker with its buttons that give a wonderful tactile feel. The one drawback to this speaker is it requires a 15v power adapter. The case is a necessity, not a suggestion, if you’re looking to toss this in a backpack for travel. We recommend the Marshall Stockwell for the living room bookshelf, small apartments, or study lounge.

Considerations; Sound matters. I’ve worked with thousands of bands and produced music festivals for over a decade. I can tell you, musicians, producers, and promoters get frustrated putting effort into recording only to have their albums sound crappy on speakers. That said, these speakers go the distance in replicating the effort musicians put into their craft. They would serve as a wonderful upgrade from your phone or a gift for family or friends.
