Zeke’s Coffee, the rebellious coffee house in East Liberty, has raised $18,312 to help them transition to their new location across Penn Avenue. As a thank you, Zeke’s gave away Free Coffee the entire day to show their love for the community that supported them. DJ EZ Lou played a small set and the coffee shop slowly packed with friends and family saying good-bye to the old location on its last day.

For those not familiar, Zeke’s roasts its own beans and services the thriving start-up community surrounding it. Developer Walnut Capital has plans to demolish the block, which also housed the original Beauty Shop, and create a six-story apartment building. Frequent moves are part of the growing pains of East Liberty. With community support Zeke’s Coffee will do just fine.
